Policy Council

CFO, as well as Head Start, believes that parents should have input into their child’s programming and agency decision-making. One way to accomplish this is by becoming a member of the Head Start Policy Council.
The Policy Council (PC) is made up of elected parent representatives from each of CFO’s Head Start Programs and Community Representatives that are either past Head Start parents or individuals who work with or have a special interest in children and can contribute to the development of the program. The PC meets monthly; reimbursement is available to members for childcare and travel expenses to attend the meetings.
Currently, the Policy Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month, from 9:00 to 11:00 am in a central location or one each in Hancock and Washington Counties, linked by technology. Each year, the Policy Council establishes several committees that work on specific issues. There are three standing committees, Health Services Advisory, Child Development and Personnel.
If you would like more information on the Policy Council, or any of our other standing committees, please contact your Center Coordinator or Family Advocate.
