ELLSWORTH—Child and Family Opportunities Inc. presented a preliminary plan for an infant/toddler child care facility to the Ellsworth Planning Board Wednesday, April 3.

The board did not take action on the plan because a few details are still being worked out.

The plan is to offer child care for as many as 24 infants and 51 3- to 5-year-olds.

The facility would be located on Avery Lane, which is off Beechland Road.

In addition to the childcare facility, Child and Family Opportunities would house its administrative staff at the site.

The organization likely will appear before the Planning Board again in either May or June. It is hoping to start construction by July 1.

Debbie Hogan-Albert, Planning Board member, said she was pleased to see the proposal.

“It’s definitely needed, especially infant care,” she said.
