Cool air is now flowing through the classrooms at the Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center thanks to the generosity of local businesses, staff and community members who contributed to Child and Family Opportunities’ Capital Campaign in 2003. The campaign was conducted last year to support the agency’s construction and move into its first permanent facility in Ellsworth. The facility, located at 18 Avery Lane in Ellsworth, houses 6 classrooms of child care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, the agency’s administrative offices and the Resource Development Center.

Funds from the Capital Campaign were raised to support needs in the facility not able to be funded in the initial building phase. CFO’s Board of Directors prioritized the air conditioning of the child care wing and began working on the project in January.

According to Executive Assistant, Phyllis Young, “Last summer was an unusually hot one and now this summer is an unusually cool one, but we are pleased to have the system in place and ready to go making a more comfortable environment for our children and our staff.”

Applications are being accepted for the child care and Head Start programs at the center. To apply and receive more information on CFO and its programs call Enrollment Specialist, Susannah Stanton at 667-2995 or 1-800-834-4378.
