Service Area: Harrington, Milbridge, Cherryfield, Columbia, Columbia Falls, Addison, Steuben and surrounding communities

Enrollment: 1 classroom of 16 preschool children, 3 and 4 year olds, Head Start
1 classroom of 8 infant/toddlers, 6 weeks to 3 years old, Early Head Start

We actively encourage and facilitate participation of children of all abilities and their families. Our staff is trained in working with children with disabilities and local service providers to ensure that all children’s individual needs are met.

Calendar: Open all year for Early Head Start, three mornings per week; September – May for Head Start, 4 mornings per week

Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for Head Start and Early Head Start

Meals: Healthy breakfast and lunch served in the classroom family style, with teachers and children eating together; meals provided at no cost to parents.

Fees: Children enrolled in our Head Start or Early Head Start programs attend at no cost.

Transportation: While CFO does not provide transportation to any of the Head Start/Early Head Start programs, we do have some funds available to assist Head Start/Early Head Start eligible families with the cost of transportation.

Directions: From Milbridge, turn right on Route 1A by the Bar Harbor Bank and proceed approximately five miles east to Harrington. The Center is on the left, a small white farmhouse with a u-shaped driveway.

Goodbye Bears

Sometimes it’s hard to say goodbye, but Harrington’s parents and staff help make it easier by making Goodbye Bears for the children. Harrington closes tomorrow, May 4, for the Summer but will reopen in the Fall. Harrington is currently accepting applications.

Celebrating Head Start’s 50th Anniversary

The Harrington Early Care and Education Center celebrates Head Start’s 50th Anniversary by displaying Head Start banners from all five states in Region 1, which Harrington belongs to! Harrington ECEC families are encouraged to add their own stories to the wall of fame to help the Harrington ECEC celebrate its end of year and the 50th Anniversary of Head Start!

Parents joins us for a Family Picnic and helped with events throughout the center. The children enjoyed face painting, making a fruit salad, decorating aprons, making plaster of paris hand prints, bubbles and outside play. We LOVE our Harrington ECEC families!
