Our Programs

CFO provides early childhood services in 15 centers throughout Hancock and Washington County, some in partnership with local schools or child care providers. Head Start, Early Head Start, and Child Care, (both subsidized and private pay) are the backbone of CFO’s center-based services. By blending all funding sources, and using Head Start’s Performance Standards as our guide, CFO provides early care and education to families from all income levels in both part and full day/year settings.

Its community-focused approach also means other early care and education providers in the two counties are supported by CFO through training and technical assistance. In addition to providing training and technical assistance to other child care providers, CFO’s Child Care Resource Development Center, Child Care Opportunities, provides child care referrals to parents and supports communities in solving child care problems.

Another community-focused program that CFO sponsors is Healthy Peninsula, a Healthy Maine Partnership that brings people and resources together to improve the health and well being of the towns of the Blue Hill peninsula, Ellsworth, Deer Isle, Stonington, and Isle au Haut.

The agency also administers State of Maine child care subsidies for families and food reimbursements (CACFP) for area child care providers meeting USDA standards.
